Lamotrigine Kits Recalled

GlaxoSmithKline is recalling about 100,000 starter kits of generic lamotrigine (medication Lamictal), used to treat epilepsy and bipolar disorder, after finding the wrong dosage in two of the kits. The kits are designed so that patients gradually increase their dosage over several weeks. The kits supplied a white 25-mg tablet rather than a pink 100-mg pill for the fifth week.

Patients with a prescription for the medication need not worry; there was no problem with the tablets or bottles.
