Generic Proscar for Benign Prostatic Hypertrophy

The FDA has granted approval for Teva Pharmaceuticals to market the generic version of Merck’s Proscar drug (finasteride 5 mg) tablets. Finasteride is indicated for the treatment of symptomatic benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) in men with an enlarged prostate gland and to reduce the need for prostate surgery.
