Combined Hypertension/Cholesterol Tablet Available
Pfizer’s Caduet® (medication amlodipine besy-late, tablet Norvasc®; drug atorvastatin calcium, Generic Lipitor®) is the first prescription tablet that combines two medications to treat hypertension or angina as well as high cholesterol levels. Approved in early 2004, Caduet® is now available. It should be used along with diet and exercise.
Overall, 55% percent of people with high blood pressure also have hyper-cholesterolemia, and 43% with high cholesterol levels have hypertension.
