Generic Drugs Lamisil for Fungal Nail Infections
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved the first generic versions of prescription drug terbinafine HCl (Generic Lamisil, Novartis) tablets for fungal infections of the nails (onychomycosis).
The FDA approved the tablets in 250 mg formulations for multiple generic drug manufacturers. An application for a generic version of over-the-counter terbinafine HCl 1%, cream (Taro) to treat athlete’s foot has also been approved.
