Lexapro (Escitalopram) Is Studied In Effective Treatment Of Depression
Depression is a chronic disease that requires medical treatment. But there is not a large choice of FDA-approved options to prescribe.
The results of a study presented at the 2008 Annual Meeting of the American Psychiatric Association suggest that Lexapro drug can be a useful antipsychotic medication for adolescents with depression.
The study was conducted in a double-blind, parallel-group in multiple centers across the U.S. The whole number of participants was 316. They all were depressed adolescents, aged 12-17 entered the eight week study. During the research they were receiving either Lexapro 10 mg or placebo.
