Nexium Medication Is Approved Better Than Pantoprazole
New study among gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) patients presented the evident efficacy of Esomeprazole (Nexium) drug over Pantoprazole medication.
The primary symptom of GERD is recurrent heartburn. Usually GERD is managed in the primary care setting, and nearly 95 per cent of patients aren’t administered a prior endoscopy to reveal esophageal mucosal disease severity. The study was conducted among GERD patients with healed erosive esophagitis who had remission at six months. After six months of treatment with Esomeprazole 20 mg once daily 87 per cent of patients with healed erosive esophagitis were maintained in remission, versus 74.9 per cent of those who took Pantoprazole 20 mg. It was also indicated that treating with Esomeprazole tablets prevented relapse of esophageal erosions or moderate-severe GERD symptoms in 16% more versus Pantoprazole treatment. In addition, erosive esophagitis was healed (at 4 to 8 weeks), GERD symptoms were relieved (at 4 to 8 weeks), and both healing and symptom relief were maintained (through 6 months) in 19% more patients taking Nexium medication than treated with generic Protonix.
Thus, Esomeprazole drug keeps up healing and symptom relief and provides more effective control of gastric acidity than Omeprazole, Lansoprazole, Pantoprazole and others PPIs. This kind of gerd medications reduces the amount of acid in the stomach, helping to treat heartburn and other symptoms of GERD. The side effects in around 1% of patients are diarrhoea, headache, and abdominal pain.
